FREAKS AND GEEKS – POSTERPARTY

June 5th at 6pm

To celebrate it’s 2 years of existence, Freaks & Geeks will exhibit all the flyers that made the party famous. This will cover the entire period from May 2008 to May 2010. The images will be blown-up to large scale posters and will be for sale during the exhibition.

You will be able to admire the posters from a whole new angle as they will be accompanied by all the components that make them so unique. Wether it be the original photos, a tutorial on how to create your own Freaks & Geeks flyers or even an explanation on the Photoshop ‘filters’ by the graphic designer himself.

The exhibition will also feature an installation by friends Narco-TV, that will be based on video footage shot during our parties and Happy Days, our photographer, will print out his best pictures captured during the past two years.

POSTER PARTY THE MAKING OF:

Freaks & Geeks Who are they?

“Makin It Bounce And Havin Fun” is the party’s motto and the open minded selection and musical complementarity of Kwistax, Kid Strike & DJ Slow is always guaranteed fun and breath taking perfomances until the early morning hours…

Freaks & Geeks is a crew of three dj’s and one graphic designer joining their forces since 2008 to wake up the nightlife in Brussels with the freshest and most talked-about parties where you’ll discover groundbreaking international guests and the finest in new club music mixed by the resident dj team.

Kwistax offers both powerful technical abilities as well as some extreme eclecticism. Several prize winnner during DJ championships (like DMC), he easily switches between styles through a colourful and innovating musical selection. His dynamic and eclectic mixture of electronic music, rap and several underground styles (like dubstep and kuduro) is a success at every party. Well known in Belgium and elsewhere for playing side by side with various underground stars in the most prestigious venues, he’s also been involved in Rubicub, Studio 51, Suicide Collectif, Jurassic Pump, and in Aeclecktrick Records.

The british roots of this rising star of the belgian electro scene, have abled Kid Strike to establish for himself an impressive musical knowledge that he keeps sharing with his crowd. Fascinated by dance music in general, he is able to mix in his sets and his productions, the most tribal rhythms with the most hypnotizing yet funky melodies. Kid Strike has played solo all over Belgium, in the most renowned clubs.

Being into music since he was barely walking, Dj Slow has developed an impressive musical knowledge that makes him always way ahead of the others. When he’s dj’ing, its with one objective in mind: setting fire to the dancefloor. Whether it be with Ibiza-style house, the latest Club and Juke bangers or his legendary “Dirty South” sets, Dj Slow will have you dancing till sunrise.

The first season (08-09) of the Freaks & Geeks parties took place at the Café Bota Stereo and saw a large amount of success. For the second season taking place now, we have moved to the larger La Fabbrica (Tour & Taxis) and have decided to invite an international guest dj for every edition of the party. Each edition is announced with a video trailer and an exclusive mix by the 3 dj’s (and sometimes by the guest dj) which is downloadable for free on our website.

Being very aware of our image, we do all our marketing and promotion ourselves as would an independent label. All our visuals are created by Photoshop wizz-kid Lil F, who turns photos shot by Gaston Delapoyade into baroque-like masterpieces. Narco Media Vision is responsible for the videos and Happydays is our photographer during the parties.
