    MIDNIGHT

We would like to gather as many friends as possible and have a warm non pretentious New Year party together in Brussels downtown new club Mr Wong: a beautiful ArtDeco style venue with enormous potential of becoming one of the city center’s hotspots for new music, concerts, parties, clubbing or just having drinks on a night out.
The venue has the right size, not too small, not too big, but just the right size for the right amount of right people.

It has been an exciting year for Brussels, as the city has been able to place itself again at the top of world’s capitals as a great destination for fashion, culture, food, nightlife and more.
There is a new Brussels going on full and we feel it is just the beginning!
It has been an exciting year for many of us and it has also been an exciting one for Hunting and Collecting and we will celebrate this with you.

    LOOKBOOKFW11

Hunting and Collecting and the De Jeunes Gens Moderens have the pleasure to present the Fall Winter 2011 Lookbook “JARDIN D’HIVER”.

Co-produced between the Brussels’ concept store and the French online magazine, this project is the result of the ongoing creative friendship between Aude and Niels and the eight members of De Jeunes Gens Modernes. Shot by Belgian photographer Hicham Riad in Paris, in a most splendid winter garden designed by Gustave Eiffel himself, the lookbook is an extension of the visual theme chosen by Hunting and Collecting for this Fall Winter 2011, in order to present some of the key pieces of this season’s selection.

De Jeunes Gens Modernes (www.dejeunesgensmodernes.com) is one of our favorite online magazines on the web, we relate very closely to their vision of fashion and their to impeccable taste. This series of photographs is an excellent occasion to combine our respective activities.

For the occasion of Design September 2011; Paris based FAT Galerie, Brussels based designart dealer Victor Hunt and select store Hunting and Collecting are pleased to announce their collaboration for the “Raw Edges, from flat to full” exhibition representing some of Yael Mer and Shay Alkalay’s most recent works, among which the Coiling Collection, Volume, Tailored Wood, Pleated Pleat and the Grove Revolving Trees.

Both Yael Mer and Shay Alkalay are born in Tel Aviv in 1976 and attended the MA Royal College of Art in 2006 under Ron Arad. Their official collaboration as Raw Edges started after many years of sharing life, thoughts and ideas. Yael’s main focus regards turning two-dimensional sheet materials into functional forms, whereas Shay is fascinated by how things move, function and react.

Raw-Edges received several highly respected awards including The British Council Talented Award, iF Gold Award, Dutch Design Award, Wallpaper Design Award in 2009 and the Elle Decoration International Design Award for best furniture of 2008/09. F/W 11 BRANDS AT HUNTING AND COLLECTING

This winter, HUNTING AND COLLECTING embarks on a world tour with its brands…
We start in New York, where the male fine-tunes his outfit at Patrik Ervell, followed by an excursion into the composed atmosphere of Assembly. Picking up blue-collar work-wear updated for the modern male by Adam Kimmel for Carhartt, he will cultivate his youthful elegance in 3.1 Phillip Lim, with footwear provided either by the refined brogues of Mark McNairy, the minimalist sneakers of Common Projects, or the fur lined boots of Opening Ceremony. The women, clad in Opening Ceremony heels and a Pamela Love necklace, will demonstrate a true mastery of the art of sexy-chic with VPL lingerie, the latest obsession of the New York female. Heading over to Brooklyn to track down the exquisitely soft cardigans of Lauren Mangoogian, our female will accessorize with the hairpieces of Jennifer Behr, whose work has recently made a distinct mark on the red carpet.

Travelling West, the pair form the customary Lost Angeles hippy-chic couple with their THVM jeans, before setting out for Oregon, where they lose themselves in the fashion legacy left behind by Pendleton with its classic shirts and desert boots.
Our duo head north to Canada, where they envelop themselves in the oversized silhouetted garments of
Complexgeometries. Our male picks up the Corduroy trousers and Wax jackets of Dana Lee, our female the interweaving jewellery of Arielle De Pinto and the feathered necklaces of Maryam Keyhani.

Heading to Japan, the pair will embark on an urban hike with the help of White Mountaineering, ending up in Shenzhen where they will discover the conceptual unisex brand Fixxed.

As well as providing them with the Heritage fashion of Whillas and Gunn, Australia offers them the out-there prints of Perks and Mini, as visually far-fetched as they are rooted in street culture. Our female will demonstrate her true radiance (as well as her cosmically-inclined fashion sense) in Something Else.

Back in Europe, they will make their first stop in Germany where they will be blown away by two designer duos: Anntian with their lavish tapestry-influenced prints, and Juliaandben with their washed-out visual darkness. She will take the time to check out the exquisite jewellery of Saskia Diez.

Britain takes its hold on the male in the form of Lavenham’s quilted coats, the tongue-in-cheek humour of Peter Jensen’s cartoon-esque design, and the shirts of Christopher Shannon, whose Inca motifs take direct influence from David Attenborough’s Human Planet documentary series. Yet our female too gets a taste of the bestial with the work of Emma Cook.

He will pass through Vienna for a taste of sophistication with the impeccably cut clothing of Petar Petrov, while she will make a trip to A Coruña in Spain to experience the urban female influence that transcends through the clothing of Masscob.

Scandinavia will offer the duo clothing that neither will be able to resist: they will fall in love with the knitted wool sweatshirts of Carin Wester, embrace the winter influence of the Jacquard sweatshirts at Wood Wood, and be drawn in by the charm of the leather bags of Yvonne Kone.

Her style will be brightly coloured in Rodebjer, restrained in Stine Goya, glamorous in Veronica B Vallenes, sleek in Kokooon, and minimal in Back by Ann Sofie Back. The blogging ladies of Anywho.dk will offer her a jacket, their collaborative effort with Danish brand Kobra. Meanwhile, he will take on the air of an officer in Soulland, be casual in both Norse Projects and Libertine Libertine, and track down the perfect chino at Hope.

Italy will proudly demonstrate the legacy of dandy fashion with Consuelo Castiglioni’s beautiful designs for Marni, and will provide both male and female with mountaineering boots from Diemme.

In Paris, our male will proudly wear his unique Monsieur Lacenaire sweatshirts, the darkly humorous printed designs of Maison Chose, and the work-wear of Bleu de Paname, whilst keeping warm in a chapka hats, kindly provided by the team at Pigalle. She will fall victim to the beautiful dresses of Maria Luisa and play the high fashion secret agent in Carven, whilst wearing a Maison Michel hat. The next day, she will most certainly be the “Belle de Jour,” dressed from head to toe in the clothing of multidisciplinary fashion collective Surface To Air. The pair will also sample a taste of the androgynous with Silent by Damir Doma.

We end our trip back in Belgium, where the pair experience a true sense of exclusivity in the clothing of Jan-Jan Van Essche, a feeling enhanced by the splendour of Mouton Collet jewellery. She will be radiant in Céline Collard, and demonstrate her structured femininity in Wolf. By Sofie Claes, complimented suitably with a Vanessa Aerts bracelet. For special occasions, she will be dressed in Christian Wijnants, sporting abstract prints and luxurious mesh structures… it looks set to be quite the season!

    —————————————-

Hunting and Collecting will also offer a selection of design products: handmade Dream Catches, designer bed sheets, Totem cups and bowls, printed carpets and cushions, chairs, magazines, and candles to help that evoke the ever-distant memory of childhood…

There will also be a lifestyle section: Marshall headphones, Kitsuné compilation CDs, accessories for the latest electronic gadgets, electronic cigarettes (a Belgian exclusive!), and a corner curated by the Bozar Museum Shop.

Continuing our series of events, exhibitions, and parties, this September will see the launch of the Raw Edges exhibition at Hunting and Collecting, part of the Belgian ‘Design September’ month, and a party with the Parisian label Surface To Air.
