Biography :

Dana Lee is a New York-based menswear label. Dana Lee is a female menswear designer, originally from Vancouver, British Columbia. Before launching her namesake label in New York during 2009, she completed a BA in fashion design, lived and worked in London and Helsinki, and developed A-Z Collection, a NYC menswear brand which debuted in Opening Ceremony and garnered a New York Gen Art nomination. Her vision is influenced by a curiosity for the ordinary and by a love for everyday, well-worn garments.

Style :

“I like clothes that are relaxed and uncomplicated-  things that can be worn for several seasons and that also feel right for the fashion moment.  One of my favorite things is to use commonplace fabrics and combine them with high-quality finishing. Although I appreciate thoughtful details & experimental silhouettes, my main concern when designing a garment is more the personality of the fabric, uniqueness of the color, character of finishing and the overall state-of-mind that the garment expresses; I am very interested the semiotics of fashion.” Said Dana Lee

Fall/Winter 11 Collection :

« This season  was inspired by the interiors and domestic spaces of Vuillard. I saw some of his paintings in person and loved the rich overlays of colors and patterns of household furnishings: floral wallpapers, dotted table linens, plaid drapery, velvety tasseled furniture and carpets. I wanted the fall collection to evoke the same warm jumbled feel and intimate glimpses of everyday life depicted in his works.  Wide wale corduroy is a key part of the fall collection. There is a certain rich, upholstery feel and charming bookish quality about the wide wale that I wanted to present in a fashion context. » Dana Lee
